Education for Coexistence

Education for Coexistence is Misriyati’s programme for developing educational practices that help children and young people understand difference, engage with others and build the skills needed to live together.

The programme builds on Misriyati’s long-standing work with teachers, educators and educational institutions, combining peace education, life education, participatory learning and creative practices.

We support educators to understand themselves and their relationship with others, engage constructively with difference, and create more open and inclusive learning environments, while providing practical tools and approaches that can be used in classrooms and educational communities.

The programme includes

  • Teacher and educator training
  • Education for difference and living together
  • Peace education and life education
  • Identity and understanding the other
  • Dialogue and communication
  • Educational activity and curriculum design
  • Participatory and creative learning methods
  • Supporting schools and educational institutions to develop practices of coexistence

Our approach: We start from the educator’s own experience and connect knowledge with practice. Living together is not simply something to teach; it is something we learn and build through everyday relationships, dialogue and how we engage with difference.
