Since 2004, Misriyati has worked at the intersection of peace education, conflict transformation, participatory theatre and creative learning.
We work with people, groups and communities to explore difference, engage with conflict, strengthen relationships and develop the capacities needed for dialogue, solidarity, coexistence and nonviolent change.
Our work brings together knowledge and practice. We design and facilitate learning experiences, programmes and processes that begin with people's lived experiences and create opportunities to question, experiment, imagine and act.
We believe learning is most meaningful when people are active participants in the process. Through dialogue, theatre, storytelling, reflection and experiential activities, we create spaces where knowledge and experience can be shared, questioned and co-created.
Since 2004, Misriyati has developed and delivered participatory approaches to peace education, conflict transformation and social change. Our work has grown through partnerships with communities, young people, civil society organisations and institutions, combining theatre, dialogue and experiential learning to create spaces for reflection, connection and collective action.

Over more than two decades, Misriyati has developed and implemented peace education and social change programmes with civil society organisations, educators, young people, women, communities and institutions in Egypt and beyond.
Our experience includes peace education, conflict transformation, mediation, dialogue and reconciliation, participatory theatre, education for coexistence, gender and peace, facilitation and capacity development.
We have worked across different contexts and with diverse groups, adapting our approaches to the realities, needs and possibilities of each context.
Our practice continues to evolve through experience, research, experimentation and learning with the people and communities we work alongside.
Misriyati was founded in response to growing social fragmentation and shrinking spaces for meaningful encounters across difference. We began by creating participatory learning spaces where children and young people could explore identity, communication and conflict through games, storytelling, movement and dialogue.
Over time, this work evolved into a practice bringing together peace education, conflict transformation and theatre for social change.
Read MoreOur mission is to create spaces where people can learn, connect, question and create together, developing new ways of engaging with diversity and conflict that support peaceful and constructive conflict resolution, inclusion, justice and solidarity. Through peace education, theatre and participatory learning, we support individuals, communities and organisations to build the knowledge, skills and relationships needed to live and work together across difference
We believe that meaningful social change begins with individual change, and that the way we relate to ourselves and to one another shapes the communities and societies we create. We believe in the inherent worth and potential of every human being, and in our capacity to learn, grow, care and contribute.
We see people as fundamentally social beings, shaped by our relationships, communities and contexts. We therefore create spaces where people can meet one another, share experiences, question assumptions and develop new ways of relating and working together.
We believe that difference is a source of learning, and that conflict, when approached with curiosity, care and openness, can create possibilities for dialogue, understanding and transformation. Through theatre, storytelling, dialogue and participatory learning, people are not simply recipients of knowledge or solutions; they are active participants and creators of knowledge, stories and possibilities.
Our practice is grounded in dignity, justice, solidarity, inclusion and nonviolence, and in the belief that when people are given meaningful space to participate, they can shape their relationships, their communities and the societies they are part of.
Our approach is participatory, experiential and creative. We create spaces where people are not passive recipients, but active participants in their own learning and in shaping the process.
We use theatre, storytelling, dialogue, games, reflection and other creative practices to connect learning with lived experience. These methods invite people to explore questions rather than simply receive answers, to encounter different perspectives, and to experiment with new ways of communicating and responding to conflict.
We work with people rather than for them, recognising the knowledge, experience and creativity they already bring. Our programmes are adapted to the people, communities and contexts we work with, and are developed through listening, collaboration and reflection.
Across our work, we draw on approaches including Peace Education, Conflict Transformation, Theatre of the Oppressed, Forum Theatre, Playback Theatre, participatory theatre and non-formal education.
